Accessibility Information

CHP are working to improve access to our website and we are taking a phased approach to ensure all pages conform to the World Wide Web Consortium's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.

We welcome suggestions and feedback to improve accessibility on its website. If you are experiencing any difficulties accessing the information set out on our pages, please contact us by emailing enquiries@chp.org.uk or calling 0845 155 3000.

Change the way this site looks

You can change the way this website looks to suit your needs. The settings differ depending on your browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari), but most offer some or all of the following:

Change the font size

You can adjust the size of nearly all the text on this website by using the font size setting in your browser. This setting is found in the 'View' menu of most browsers.

  • In Internet Explorer, go to 'view', 'text size'. Select the text size you require.
  • In Firefox, go to 'view', 'text size'. You can increase or decrease the text size as required.
  • In Safari, hold down the command key (Apple key) and select '+' to increase the text size or '-' to decrease the text size.

Other text and colour changes

Some browsers allow you to change the default font and background colours you use to make them high contrast. These settings are usually found in the 'Options' or 'Preferences' menus.

Use a 'plain' layout

Many browsers allow you to remove all layout and styling from a web page by turning off the website’s 'style sheets'. If your browser supports this setting you will most likely find it in the 'View' menu.

Keyboard access

Most browsers let you move from link to link using the TAB key. The current link will be highlighted in yellow. To move backwards, hold down SHIFT and press the TAB key.

At the top of each page there is a selection of links to the main parts of the page (navigation, content, and search for example). These links are hidden until they are skipped to, at which point they appear in a yellow box at the top left of the page.

Access Keys

Access Keys are keyboard shortcuts to common pages on a website. This website does not use Access Keys because evidence suggests that they interfere with the keyboard controls of many browsers and screen readers.

PDFs

Visit http://access.adobe.com (external website) for free tools that will convert PDFs to plain text or HTML, and for further information about PDFs and accessibility.

Change View

This page contains links that allow the user to change the size of the fonts used on this site and to select colour combinations that provide high contrast.
