1. When will my grass be cut?
Communal areas will be cut every 14 calendar days during the grass cutting season, and if you are a member of CHP’s discretionary gardening service this will be once a month.
2. Can I have a new front door?
If you have a wooden door in reasonable condition it will be assessed via a stock condition survey to decide when it will need replacing. If there is a problem with your door please let CHP know and it will send a carpenter to assess and repair it.
If you are a premierplus member and your door is in poor condition but still secure, you will be added onto a list for a new composite door. The current wait time is two years.
If you are not a premierplus member and your door is in a poor condition but still secure, you will be added onto a list for a new wooden door. The current wait time is approximately three to six months. Timber doors will be painted, or stained, as part of seven year cyclical decorating works.
3. Will CHP cut down my tree?
No, not unless it is causing structural damage, or a health and safety risk. If you think this is the case please contact Landscape Planning on (01206) 754987 who will carry out an assessment. Please note tenants are responsible for their own garden maintenance such as overgrown trees or shrubs.
4. Where am I on the transfer list?
Please calls CHP’s Customer Service Centre, or visit its Chelmsford town centre office, Atholl House, where an advisor will search for up to two areas for your position on the list.
5. Can I knock down a cupboard or shed?
It is a requirement of your tenancy agreement that you will need to ask for permission. Please write for the attention of the Asset and Contract Management team. Please remember if you are on a starter tenancy you must wait for an assured tenancy to be granted before asking for such permissions.
6. Can I have lever taps / handrail?
If you have a disability CHP can arrange for a small adaptation that may assist. Any major adaptations such as a wet room would need a referral from Social Services who can be contacted on (0845) 603 7630.
7. Can someone look at damp in my property?
Yes, please call CHP’s Customer Service Centre, or visit Atholl House, and the advisor will arrange for an inspector to visit.
8. Will CHP put in a driveway?
CHP will not pay for new driveways; however, you may pay for the work yourself after approval from the Asset and Contract Management team. You also require permission from Essex County Council (ECC) – who can be contacted on (0845) 603 7631 - for a dropped kerb.
