CHP announced as award winning housing association

Business awards winners

CHP is delighted to announce it is an award winning company after its success in the Essex Business Awards ‘Constructing Essex’ category.

The awards ceremony – held at Braxted Park, near Witham, Essex - saw CHP win the new category and the company commended for its “professionalism and enthusiasm”.

Spreading its operations remit throughout Essex, from Clacton-on-Sea to Corringham, CHP was recognised for providing high-quality affordable family homes -and creating new communities - throughout the county.

Working with 12 of the 14 local authorities, private sector contractors, development agents and architects, CHP has built and acquired 550 new homes since April 2008 and has invested up to £45 million annually into the local economy.

Collecting the award, David Cotterill, CHP’s Director of Development, said: “It was a really great night and was fantastic that our hard work and commitment has been acknowledged by independent judges who, despite difficult economic conditions, recognised how we are growing the business throughout Essex and our input into the county’s economy.”

Focusing on its environmentally-friendly development, Green Space, in Mendip Place, Chelmsford – the first Code for Sustainable Homes* level-six zero-carbon properties in the East of England - and its £8 million flagship project at Parkside Court, Chelmsford; the judges were impressed with CHP’s commitment to regenerating brownfield areas – such as Airey houses, garages sites and disused petrol stations – throughout the county.

Richard Cooke, Essex Business Awards ‘Constructing Essex’ judge and Partner at law firm Birketts LLP, commented: “Since its inception in 2002, CHP has worked hard to provide increased affordable housing throughout Essex. CHP has been successful in increasing the numbers, and quality, of its housing stock by offering homes to thousands across the county. It has expanded its geographic reach and is helping push back sustainability boundaries with impressive new zero-carbon homes.

“Talk with CHP's senior management and its staff and the professionalism and enthusiasm shines through. These are people excited about delivering homes and services that they know are valuable and worthwhile. The last two years have been tough going for the construction sector but CHP is a company going places.”
