CHP changes telephone number

phoneWe are changing our telephone number to make it cheaper for residents’ to contact us.

Our new telephone number - 0300 555 0500 - will replace the current 0845 prefix and will be phased in during 2011.

Following a consultation process with tenants, we are introducing the new number to help residents save money as they will be charged a standard rate regardless of whether they contact us from a landline, mobile or payphone.

Lynne Foster, Director of Support and Transformation, said: “Changing our phone number and the launch of our new website demonstrates our commitment to providing the services our resident’s want, when they want them.

“Our residents told us that they wanted a standard rate telephone number to contact us on – so we decided to phase the new number in throughout the course of this year.”

To further help residents our new website offers tenants the ability to request and view repairs scheduled for their property following a simple registration process.

Residents can also report antisocial behaviour, update their personal details - such as telephone numbers and e-mail addresses - and not only pay their rent online safely and securely but also check their rent account at any time. This site also offers improved accessibility features allowing text size and colours to be altered as well as a high contrast option for those with visual impairments.

Residents can also download the screen reader software Browsealoud – for those have difficulty reading web pages - and view chapters from our tenancy sign-up DVD featuring a British Sign Language interpreter.

Fiona Stirling, Chelmer Residents’ Forum (CRF) Chair, added: “The CRF welcomes any initiative which provides residents with an easy and cheap means to contact CHP. Having taken residents views into consideration, we are delighted that CHP’s implementing a 0300 number.”
