CHP supports Gas Safety Week

Gas Safety WeekCHP has pledged its support to the country’s first ever Gas Safety Week.

Organised by the Gas Safe Register, the government’s approved list of legal gas engineers in the UK after it replaced CORGI in April 2009, the week takes place from the 12th to the 18th September; aiming to raise awareness of gas safety in the home the theme is simply ‘Take care, be Gas Safe’.

Working with its Gas Safe Registered partners, Carillion Energy Services PLC (formerly RG Francis Ltd) annually conducts gas, oil and solid fuel boiler checks in all of CHP’s properties throughout the county.

Marion Jordan, CHP Repairs Manager, said: “The welfare of our residents is paramount so we are supporting Gas Safety Week to help raise awareness of the importance of getting your boiler system checked every year.

“We would urge all of our residents to contact us if they have any concerns about their heating system.”

Paul Johnson, Gas Safe Register Chief Executive, added: “Every year, far too many people suffer from preventable gas related accidents. With Gas Safety Week we want to encourage the public to only use Gas Safe Registered engineers to fit, fix and service their appliances.

“In Gas Safety Week we want everyone to find out when they last had all of their gas appliances checked. If this was over a year ago, you should get them checked by a Gas safe registered engineer as soon as possible to help ensure your family and home is safe.”
