We recently celebrated launching our 100th property in the Maldon district!
The Lightermans Place development in Park Drive, Maldon, saw our Chair, Ursula Heelis, officially launch the properties alongside John Whittingdale, MP for Maldon, Peter Elliott, Chairman of Maldon District Council, and Richard Miller, Mayor of Maldon.
The event also took on an international theme as the Mayor of Villeparisis, Hervé Touguet, attended as the guest of Mayor Richard Miller! Villeparisis - a commune to the North East of Paris - is twinned with the town.
Celebrating the launch of the 100th home – which has seen us provide dwellings in Maldon, Burnham-on-Crouch, Tillingham and Southminster since 2011 – the Lightermans Place development features 27 properties for affordable rent and 11 shared ownership homes ranging from one-bedroom apartments to three-bedroom houses.
The launch of our 100th home in the Maldon district supports the affordable housing sectors aim to raise its profile as a major player in the delivery of new homes. Spearheaded by the National Housing Federation, the Ambition to Deliver campaign explains how housing associations are united in the single purpose to ensure that everyone can live in a quality home that they can afford.
“We’re obviously delighted to launch our 100th home on a development which offers Maldon residents a range of tenures and property types to meet their needs,” said our Chair Ursula Heelis. “This development was a bold initiative between all of our partners and these houses are the provision for everyone’s future.”
“Thank you to CHP, 100 homes in the district is a great record and I hope that as a company you will continue investing and building more in the area. Housing is very high up the agenda and the truth is that we need more homes to be built,” said John Whittingdale, MP for Maldon.
Peter Elliott, Chairman of MDC, added: “I find it remarkable that CHP built their first property in Maldon and now have homes throughout the district. Housing as a topic has risen up the agenda throughout the country and Maldon is no different – there are great housing demands placed on MDC – and I’m grateful to CHP who continue to build homes which meet the needs of local people.”
“This development demonstrates not only partnership working but the need to provide homes so families can stay together in their local area. This is a truly lovely development and long may the circumstances prevail in order to build more,” stated Richard Miller, Mayor of Maldon.
