Housing association delivers Christmas cheer to trust

Trussell Trust ALMOST 20 boxes packed to the brim with glorious Christmas goods and sweet treats were recently donated to The Trussell Trust by Essex housing association, CHP.

Employees from across the company were asked to purchase an extra item during their weekly shop and donate it to the charity. With collection points throughout the city, The Trussell Trust sends food and assorted gifts either to families in need or they can collect it from one of the many foodbanks available after receiving a voucher.
Responding in their droves CHP’s employees donated hundreds of Christmas and household items resulting in four of CHP’s employees delivering 18 boxes of Christmas goods.

Delivering the goods to the collection point at the Vicarage Hall in Galleywood, Chelmsford, Trussell Trust volunteer, Lynn Summers, received Christmas puddings, mince pies, chocolates, tea, coffee, tinned goods, toilet rolls, cleaning agents, washing powder and much more.

In fact throughout 2016, CHP has collected almost £10,000 after holding a number of charitable staff fundraising events - such as cake and bake sales, coffee and raffle mornings and dress down days - or has seen its employees aiming to complete personal challenges for their chosen cause from climbing mountains and running marathons to cycling the highways and byways of Essex.

Since January CHP and its employees have collected for a number of charities including: The British Kidney Patient Association, Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity (SANDS), Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) Fighting Blindness, Breast Cancer awareness, Little Haven’s Children’s Hospice, Help for Heroes, The Royal Society for Blind Children, 4Louis, Age UK Essex, Essex Air Ambulance, Teenage Cancer Trust, Macmillan Cancer Support, J’s Hospice, Amos Trust and The Helen Rollason Cancer Charity.

“We’re absolutely delighted to have collected so much for The Trussell Trust and we’re over the moon with how our staff embraced the initiative in order to help those less fortunate than ourselves,” said Jade Parker, CHP PR and Marketing manager.

“The fact that we’ve also collected almost £10,000 for so many and such a wide range of deserving charities throughout the year is fantastic. However, we’re hoping to collect even more for charity during 2017.”
