New director of development role

Carl Hockey WE’RE delighted to announce that our former manager of Development and Regeneration, Carl Hockey, has been promoted to the newly formed role of Director of Development and Sales.

Carl brings a wealth of housing experience with him to the role having worked in the housing sector for over 20 years.

After joining us in 2002, Carl has since been integral in helping us expand our housing remit from working only with Chelmsford City Council to now operating and providing homes in 13 of the county’s 14 local authorities. Carl has also been responsible for overseeing the construction of 2,000 new build homes during his time with us.

During 2016 we, and our private sales subsidiary, Myriad Homes, built and acquired 319 new properties throughout Essex - from one-bedroom flats to four-bedroom family houses - and offered a range of tenures, from affordable rent to outright private sale, to suit local peoples’ needs.

Due to our proficient output we - having recently celebrated the sale of its 100th shared ownership home in the last financial year - featured in the national trade magazine, Inside Housing Top 50 Developers survey, for the first time last year.

Despite this, we have even more ambitious development target for the forthcoming year as we’re aiming to deliver a further 500 homes in both urban and rural locations.

“I’m absolutely delighted to have been promoted to the role,” said Carl Hockey, Director of Development and Sales. “With the help of our talented development and sales team we’ll continue to build and acquire high-quality homes for affordable rent and private sale. It’s vitally important that we offer local people the homes they need at a price and tenure they can afford and in locations where they are needed – be it an urban or rural setting.

“Despite exceeding our house building target last year we’re looking to continue to do even more in 2017. While we’ve set ourselves an ambitious development target for the forthcoming year we believe that it’s not only achievable but ultimately needed due to current housing crisis.”
