Scam warning
WE have recently received a report from one of our residents that they were the victim of a scam after they were duped into handing cash over to two men posing as Chelmsford City Council workers.
The two scammers stated that the resident’s washing line in the communal garden was in breach of their tenancy. They made the resident pay an on the spot fine of £60 – stating that the council would take them to court if they did not pay which could result in a fine of thousands of pounds.
We would like to make all of our residents aware that our staff would never demand cash on the spot. The only time we will accept cash is for outstanding rent payments but we will always give you an official CHP branded receipt.
Our employees and contractors always carry identification but if you are unsure whether they are genuine we would urge you to call our service centre on 0300 555 0500 immediately.
