WE are supporting this year’s Gas Safety Week in order to raise awareness of gas safety and the importance of maintaining gas appliances in the home.
Organised by The Gas Safe Register- the government’s approved list of legal gas engineers in the UK after it replaced CORGI in April 2009 - the national campaign will be taking place from Monday 19 September to Sunday 25 September 2015.
Working with our Gas Safe Registered partners, we annually conduct gas, oil and solid fuel boiler checks to all of our properties throughout the county. This year we’re joining fellow housing associations to promote the week.
Graham Thomson, Surveying and Contracts manager, said: “We’re once again supporting Gas Safety Week as the welfare of our residents is paramount. Campaigns such as Gas Safety Week are vital in raising awareness of how important it is for our residents to have their boiler and heating system checked annually.
“On average most of our residents provide access so we can service their heating system but we would like the rest to respond positively to our requests for access. When residents are arranging to have their own appliances connected they should only use an engineer that is Gas Safe Registered and who carries a Gas Safe Registered ID card. Residents should also be reminded not to carry out any works on their heating systems. If any of our residents have any concerns about their heating system we would urge them to contact us immediately.”
