Our staff 'go for gold'
OUR employees will be running, walking and cycling over 50 miles around the streets of Essex with an inflatable ‘Olympic’ torch to help launch a new staff health initiative.
Starting in South Woodham Ferrers, Essex, on Friday 20th July, 14 staff members will be taking the inflatable ‘Olympic’ torch as part of a relay race to our 24 sheltered schemes before finishing at our Myriad House office in Springfield, Chelmsford, in the afternoon.
Having signed-up to the ‘Working Well’ health scheme – run by the Central Essex Community Services (CECS) – we are also launching a weight loss group to encourage staff to become fitter.
Lynne Foster, Director of Development, Support and Transformation, said: “We’re taking part in the scheme as we want our staff to be as fit and healthy as possible to enjoy their lives, both at work and home, to the full. Prevention is better than cure and we should all try and keep fit and eat as healthily as possible.”
Lyn Mowforth, CECS Health Promotion Specialist, believes that the secret of the scheme’s success is that it is free and run by staff for staff.
“Companies and organisations which take part benefit from improved productivity and the staff feel healthier and valued,” said Lyn.
