Sheltered scheme wins bronze in national award
ONE of our sheltered schemes has won the bronze award in the Elderly Accommodation Council’s (EAC) ‘National Housing for Older People award’.
Glovershotts, in Broomhall Road, Chelmsford, won bronze, while Coates Lodge, in Hollis Lock, Chelmsford - which won the silver prize in the 2010 EAC awards - was shortlisted and highly commended by the judges.
The awards ceremony in Birmingham saw Glovershotts take bronze after competing against 26 sheltered schemes from across the country.
To nominate the scheme, the residents used a bespoke card game designed to help them rate it on the design, services and activities available.
Sandy James, Older Persons’ Services manager, said: “We’re delighted that one of our sheltered schemes has won the bronze award while another has been highly commended. The residents themselves thoroughly enjoy playing the card game as it’s a great way for them to engage with each other, to discuss the benefits of their scheme and have a lot of fun at the same time.”
