WE recently celebrated our 10th anniversary of providing new affordable homes for local people.
Since December 2004 we have provided 1,700 new build homes – offering a variety of tenures – by working with developers and local authorities throughout the county.
The first development which we took handover of was in Chafford Hundred, Thurrock, which provided 14 two-bedroom flats for shared ownership.
Since then, we have expanded our development remit to offer a range of new build properties under a variety of tenures to meet the needs of local residents’. During the last decade we have provided new developments from small infill sites to large housing schemes, which has seen the company win numerous prestigious awards.
Our 1,700th home - which was recently launched by the Mayor of Chelmsford, Councillor Robert Villa, and our Chair, Ursula Heelis, in Pyms Road, Galleywood - saw us regenerate a former garage site to provide three bungalows, two of which are wheelchair accessible, for affordable rent.
Our 10th development anniversary also coincides with the National Housing Federation’s (NHF) ‘Ho, ho, Homes for Britain’ campaign which is calling for the government to build more properties to help meet the ever-increasing demand for affordable homes.
Carl Hockey, Development and Regeneration manager, said: “We are delighted to celebrate our 10th anniversary. We believe in creating communities which people want to live in and offering them the properties they require, which is why we are committed to providing high-quality affordable homes for local residents.
“Housing associations throughout the country do a fantastic job by offering properties to suit the needs of the local community and providing support where residents need it. This is why we are happy to support the NHF’s ‘Ho, ho, homes for Britain’ campaign.”
