Today we have launched 38 new homes for affordable rent in the Braintree district. Station Road in Sible Hedingham was the site of a derelict factory. The new development has converted this unused plot of land into much needed affordable homes for rent.
We hope the new neighbourhood will transform the lives of our customers. Chief Executive Mary Gibbons said: “CHP has a proud record of working with national housebuilders to provide great quality affordable homes across Essex. But we want to do even more to help tackle the housing crisis. Regeneration projects like Station Road not only improve housing supply but create new communities where we hope people love to live.”
Growth and Partnership Director Carl Hockey added: “Redeveloping this type of land can present challenges but also provides a great opportunity. Working with Homes England and Braintree District Council we’ve been able to transform a site which would have probably been left derelict for many more years. Instead we’ve built new high-quality homes for people that need them at a price they can afford.”
Katie Edward and Johnathan Warren along with their three children have already moved into a three bedroom house on the development. They said: “We are so lucky to have an amazing house to live in, it has completely changed our lives. The children are so excited to have a garden of their own to play in. Our dreams have honestly come true moving here.”
The new development provides a mix of one, two, and three bedroom homes for affordable rent. Working with Partner Construction and Birketts Solicitors the Station Road development received £675,000 in funding from Homes England. All the properties will be owned by us with Braintree District Council nominating people to live in them.
The project is part of our plans to build a new home in Essex for each day of the year.
