We will soon be building nearly 50 homes throughout Essex after becoming one of the first landlords in the East England area to sign a Short Form Agreement with the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).
The agreement - which allows us to set rents at up to 80% of the local market rates by utilising the government’s new affordable rent programme - will see us construct new build properties which will be awarded a level-three rating under the government’s Code for Sustainable Homes and will meet the Lifetime Homes Standard.
Working with the HCA, local authority, Chelmsford City Council, along with architects, Ingleton Wood, the developments in Kings Road, Wheatfield Way and Wykeham Road, in Chelmsford, will see 44 homes being created; while Gloucester Avenue, in Colchester, will see another four homes being constructed.
All of the developments - which will feature a mixture of tenures from affordable rent to New Build HomeBuy as well as a combination of family homes and flats that are wheelchair accessible - will witness work starting in July 2012 and are due for completion between July 2013 and March 2014.
The schemes, which will cost approximately £5 million to build in total, add to our ever-growing remit throughout Essex which in 2011 / 2012 saw the company take handover of nearly 500 homes, despite the economic climate.

- Gloucester Avenue, Colchester – will see four two-bedroom houses for affordable rent being constructed.
- Kings Road, Chelmsford –will comprise 11 one-bedroom flats, two two-bedroom wheelchair accessible ground floor flats, three two-bedroom, seven three-bedroom and four four-bedroom houses all for affordable rent.
- Wykeham Road, Chelmsford –will deliver two two-bedroom bungalows - one which is wheelchair accessible; two two-bedroom houses, and two three-bedroom houses all for affordable rent. The development will also feature two two bedroom new build HomeBuy houses, and two three-bedroom houses for outright sale.
- Wheatfield Way, Chelmsford- will witness six one-bedroom flats being constructed.
