We’re going green

Our Grounds Maintenance team with their new shredder

Our Grounds Maintenance team will be saving nearly £15,000 a year thanks to a new shredding machine.

The team - which recently received their Lantra (land and training) certificates from Writtle College - will recycle and shred garden waste and will then out the woodchips on communal garden flower beds.

The shredder, which has a C02 reduction kit attached to it so that it automatically runs at a lower and quieter level when in use, also means we are reducing the number of skips we use from six to one - saving us approximately £15,000 a year.

David Leatherdale, Grounds Maintenance team leader, said: “We’ve been using the shredder extensively and we’ll be able to save time and money which we’ll reinvest into our grounds maintenance service for our residents.”
