Community fridge launches at Parkside Community Hub, Chelmsford

alt=

We’ve introduced a community fridge at our Parkside Community Hub to help people living locally access too good to go food. Too good to go food is surplus food that might otherwise go to waste.

You can find our free community fridge inside Parkside Community Hub, with access available four days a week. Open from 9am to 4.30pm, Monday to Thursday, anyone is welcome to come along and take what they need, you just need to bring your own bag with you.

The food in the fridge is donated by the local community and businesses. You can bring any items that you no longer want or need to add to the fridge too. Please make sure that any food you contribute is unopened and has allergy information on the packaging. Food inside the fridge includes milk, fruit, bread, cakes and biscuits. The food is subject to availability, so please consider that you may not be able to get specific items.

Community fridges help to reduce food waste too. By introducing this, we hope that we can serve our customers and stop food that is safe to eat from being thrown away. The UK throws away around 9.5 million tonnes of food every year and an estimated 8.4 million people live in food poverty.

Parkside Community Hub hosts a wide selection of activities, so why not see what else is on? Head over to our What’s on calendar to look at the classes and drop-in sessions happening. The address for Parkside Community Hub is: Parkside Community Hub, Melbourne Ave, Chelmsford CM1 2DX.
