Using your Switchee thermostat

What is a Switchee? 

A Switchee is a smart thermostat that allows you to more easily manage your heating and hot water systems using a touchscreen display or mobile app.

You can schedule your heating to turn on and off at times that suit you, giving you better control over your energy usage, and potentially saving you money on your heating bills.

It’s important to balance these benefits with trying to make sure your home stays at a consistent temperature of between 18 and 22 degrees, as this will help to stop condensation forming. Condensation is one of the main causes of mould. 

Switchees can help to prevent issues with mould too. They can spot homes that are at risk of damp and mould for us so we can act to fix any issues before they become a problem.  

You may receive messages from us through your Switchee like appointment bookings, surveys about your home, and feedback requests. It’s easy to respond to the messages and they usually take about a minute to complete. A small light will flash to let you know there’s a message. Simply follow the instructions to answer the questions. If you only reply to part of the message, you may be sent the message again, so please remember to continue to the end to complete it.

How do I use my Switchee?

There’s a user guide you can download, a guide to using the mobile app, instructions for setting a timer, FAQs, and more. 

I have a problem with my Switchee device, who can I speak to?

You have two options. 

  1. Switchee's website has handy guides available to download including thermostat user guides featuring a schedule setup guide, a ‘how to’ guide for the app, FAQs, and more.
  2. If you have issues with your device or app, need help setting up schedules or want to check your heating is working, you can call the Switchee team freephone 0800 133 7957 or email support@switchee.com (Monday-Thursday, 9am-6pm and Friday, 9am to 5pm). 

Please note Switchees are only available to our tenants. Shared owners, leaseholders, and customers who live in one of our partnership properties (such as those owned by Chelmsford City Council) aren't eligible for Switchees.
