Early careers

We invest in new talent through offering early careers opportunities. We look for applicants who are ambitious and motivated, who share our values and who have the potential to make a significant contribution to the business.

Apprenticeships

We recognise there are many different routes into employment, which is why we have an apprenticeship training scheme.

Apprenticeships allow people to gain useful experience to progress in their career, whilst studying for a qualification and getting paid. The practical element of an apprenticeship means apprentices can accelerate their learning much quicker.

We offer apprenticeships in both trade and housing roles. Many of our successful apprentices go on to secure permanent roles with us, and some are now managers.

If you take up an apprenticeship with us, you can expect:

  • a dedicated mentor/buddy to support you;
  • a nationally recognised qualification from a local higher education provider;
  • hands-on experience in the workplace, and a friendly team to help you succeed;
  • a competitive salary;
  • excellent company benefits;
  • learning and development opportunities to help you build your experience, skills and knowledge.

    Since joining CHP in August 2019, I’ve experienced a wide range of different aspects of my industry. This has helped me to gain new skills like working in a team, building my problem solving skills and achieving customer satisfaction. Throughout my apprenticeship I’ve been supported with on-the-job experience working alongside skilled team members and have expanded my knowledge and skill set through training.

    I couldn’t afford to study full-time for a new career and still pay my mortgage. My apprenticeship paid me the real living wage whilst I gained a qualification and work experience. I learnt a lot, and each day was different. I loved every second. I’ve since secured a permanent position as a Neighbourhood Advisor.

Graduates

A graduate position is an excellent way to develop your professional career, but it will also give you the opportunity to make a difference to other people’s lives and the communities they live in.

We offer graduate positions across different areas of our business, including housing, sales and development, corporate governance and finance. You’ll experience interesting and varied work, as well as excellent on-the-job training.

    I joined CHP as a graduate in September 2019 and experienced three different teams in asset management and shadowed a range of projects. I worked closely with the stock condition surveying team to understand our housing stock and develop my building knowledge. I completed a two-year building surveying course, amongst others, and became an energy assessor. I was proud to reach the semi-finals of HQN’s ‘Housing’s Next Generation’ competition and secure a permanent role at CHP.

Applications for our graduate programme are currently closed. If you’d like to be kept up to date with future programmes or vacancies, please email our HR Team at jobs@chp.org.uk.
