New sustainable homes in Elmstead Market, Tendring

alt=

We have recently delivered 12 new affordable properties at the Charity Fields development, located in the village of Elmstead Market, Tendring.

The high specification properties have been built in partnership with Go Planning Ltd.  They are comprised of eight two and three bedroom houses for affordable rent and four two and three bedroom houses for shared ownership. Customer nominations for the affordable rent properties will come from Tendring District Council, with us managing the allocation process.

The new homes sit within 15 acres of countryside, on a site which was previously a single agricultural field

The construction of these properties are timber frame which is a more sustainable method of construction. Every cubic metre of wood used through this method avoids 0.8 tonne of carbon emissions.

We recently launched our first Environmental Sustainability Strategy which sets out how we will achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050. We are looking at ways to eliminate waste and be more sustainable in everything we do. We have recently introduced five new electric vehicles into our fleet and switched our energy to a 100 percent renewable source.

Carl Hockey, Growth and Partnership Director said: “We are delighted to be able to offer these high specification affordable homes in the Tendring district. At CHP we have an ambitious development programme and are pleased to work with a range of partners to help meet housing need in our region. The use of timber frame materials is just one way that we are ensuring our new homes are as environmentally friendly as possible. We know the housing sector has an integral role in reaching net zero carbon emissions, so we are committed to working sustainably in everything we do.”
