Tips to help prepare for the bad weather

alt=

Storm Eunice is set to impact on our region with the worst of the conditions coming on Friday (18 February). The forecasted strong winds means damage to property is possible. You can take steps to prevent this by securing any items outside your property. See below for further advice.

We are likely to receive a high number of enquiries during this period, which means it may take slightly longer for us to answer your call. If you have an emergency please phone 0300 555 0500 and we will get to your call as soon as we can. If you have a non-urgent enquiry please consider waiting until our lines are less busy. Alternatively you may find the answer on our website or via your online account (you can register or log in here).

If we have to attend emergencies this may mean we have to cancel planned appointments for non-emergency repairs and inspections at short notice. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience if this happens, and will seek to reschedule appointments as soon as possible.

Thanks for your co-operation at this time, and please stay safe.

Tips to help prepare for the bad weather

  • Ensure items that are moveable in the garden are secured best as possible (especially trampolines).
  • Ensure your wheelie bin is somewhere it cannot be blown over and cause rubbish blowing into the street.
  • Avoid driving where not necessary and take extra care where you absolutely have to drive.
  • Follow weather alerts for the latest updates.
  • Make sure you have a working torch to hand for use in the event of any power failure. If you and your neighbours experience a total power failure, please contact UK Power Networks. If it’s just your power failure check your fuse board to see if the fuses need to be reset.
  • If you have a balcony try to remove anything that is not secured down and place within your property.
  • Secure any garden furniture and take down washing lines which might get damaged in high winds.
  • Check on your elderly or vulnerable neighbours.
  • Advise us of any damage to your property so it can be repaired as quickly as possible.
